Spring Term - first half
This half term we will be welcoming the 2017 with an exhibition of the super extended homework projects about Roald Dahl and our science topic of forces.
Our class novel this term will be Charlotte Sometimes by Penelope Farmer which links well with our history and geography: a local study into Foxton and the First World War. We will be revising and practising our use of sentence types, different clauses and the use of a range of conjunctions. Reciprocal reading and regular writing will continue.
In maths we will be continuing our focus on the four operations and on division in particular. Children will be working with multiples and factors, finding factor pairs and modelling division as grouping and sharing. We will learn how to use formal written methods of division and how these relate to regrouping and place value.
In science the children will learn about light and how we see things and will design and carry out an investigation into shadows. Our focus will be on accurately identifying variables and formulating research questions.
Miss Jackson will be supporting Mr Atkinson in teaching the dance unit in PE on Fridays and the children will be learning to perform group sequences in gymnastics on Tuesdays.
Clay plaque houses will be the art and design project for the half term.
In addition the children will continue to do PSHE, Spanish and music.
Please do continue to support your child in his or her homework: Reading Raceway, Mathletics and practising multiplication facts where needed. There are links to these in the Homework section of this school website.
