Class 2  Summer 2017

In the Summer term our topic was plants. We went on a plant hunt on the school field, went to the park to make bark rubbings and made bookmarks out of pressed leaves. We studied the lifecycle of sunflowers and also grew out own sunflowers. We planted the sunflower seeds, watched them grown and then planted them outside in our vegetable garden. We then wrote instructions about how to plant sunflower seeds and in English made an information book containing lots of facts about sunflowers.

We had a trip to Wandlebury but unfortunately it rained and we got very wet! Never the less we had a great time studying and drawing the plants in the meadows.

In English we studied “Camille and the Sunflowers,” a story about a boy meeting the famous artist Vincent Van Gogh. In Art we studied the life of Van Gogh and some of his paintings. The class really enjoyed his painting and they painted their own amazing own version of Van Gogh’s Sunflowers.
