Spring Term 2018
In the Spring Term we welcomed two trainee teachers from Homerton College: Mrs Osborne and Miss Elardo.
In Maths we used the four operations to solve word problems. We investigated the properties of 2-D and 3-D shapes and we continued our work on the quick recall of the times tables. We loved singing the times tables songs of Mr DeMaio!
In English we made good progress in our knowledge and understanding of grammar and punctuation. We used a range of conjunctions to write compound and complex sentences in all our written work.
Our History topic this term was ‘Ancient Egypt’. After a visit to the British Museum in London, we set up our own museum. We invited the pupils of Class 1, Class 2 and Class 4 to visit our museum and we showed them a variety of exhibits: fashion and jewellery, mummification (featuring Dobby), Ancient Egyptian queens, life on the banks of the river Nile and a model of the Rosetta Stone. In the middle of our museum was a display of the history of writing that included cave paintings and cuneiform writing.
Mrs Osborne did a research project on sleep. We all kept a sleep diary and found out that we do need to make sure that we get enough sleep if we want to be cheerful and perform well in school.
