Cary Francis Parent Governor Link governor for Literacy, Humanities, MFL. Member of the Data Panel. First appointed 1st October 2021 |
I am an experienced Assistant Headteacher, at a large secondary school in Hertfordshire. My area of focus is Teaching & Learning and I would like to use my expertise to support and develop the aims, strategies and vision of Foxton school, to ensure there is a drive for continuous improvement. I have recently completed a Masters in Education, focusing on the development of leadership skills of those within the teaching profession. This has resulted in me extending my knowledge of student pedagogy, and the importance of staff having the necessary training, support and resources to allow them to be effective practitioners within the classroom. I have two children, both of whom attended Foxton Primary school. |
Lisa Murphy Co-Chair of Governors Safeguarding Governor Member of Pay review committee, Finance, Premises and Personnel committee, and data panel Link governor for EYFS, SEND, Safeguarding and policies First appointed 27th Jan 2022 |
Until retiring, I was a Primary Adviser working in Cambridgeshire supporting several schools and new Headteachers starting their careers in the county. Prior to this I was Headteacher at Harston and Newton Primary School, South Cambs for 10 years and loved every minute of this. Before this, I was Deputy Headteacher and SENDCo at Fawcett Primary School, Cambridge and also lectured at the Faculty of Education, University of Cambridge. I have worked all my life in education – London, Southend, Manchester and for the last 27 years in Cambridge. I joined the Foxton governing body in January 2022. It has been good to learn more about the school. I have enjoyed meeting the children, staff and parents. I am keen to use my experience and knowledge of school improvement to support our good community school to improve further. |
Joseph Barker-Sherry Chair of Finance, Premises and Personnel committee, member of the Headteacher Appraisal panel and Pay Review Committee Link governor for Pupil Premium, First appointed 29th Jan 2021Current term ends 28th Jan 2025 |
I am a Deputy Headteacher at a large comprehensive secondary school in Cambridgeshire, and have worked as a senior leader at schools in our county and Hertfordshire since 2018. I have led on pastoral care, behaviour for learning, safeguarding, initial teacher training, use of the Pupil Premium grant, personal development, and community. I am especially interested in how schools can provide support for the most vulnerable students, so that they can achieve similar outcomes to their peers. I am an experienced Modern Foreign Languages teacher, specialising in German, but having also taught French and Spanish. Prior to becoming a governor at Foxton Primary School, I had also gained experience as a staff governor in a school where I taught. I joined the governing body at Foxton as the local authority governor in January 2021, and have enjoyed learning more about the school, and getting to meet and know the children and the staff. During my time as a governor here I have been involved in the appointment of Mrs Muir, as the school’s headteacher, our successful Ofsted inspection in 2022, and as Vice Chair of the governors, I have led the Finance, Personnel and Premises committee. I am keen to use my experience and knowledge of school improvement and education to support a good community school to become even better. |

I am currently a civil servant working in the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, for the national Supporting Families programme, providing funding to all upper tier local authorities in England to deliver support to families. I live in Foxton and enjoy getting involved in the community – I am currently secretary of the tennis club, and part of the team who run the Scarecrow festival and Christmas windows events to raise funds for the school, pre-school and church. I am also connected with the church where I help run the monthly informal worship services. |

Lynne Brooks Link governor for training First appointed 22 July 2021 |
I have been a teacher since 2013, first teaching in Cambridge and then at Foxton Primary School since 2018. I have taught all age groups from Reception to Year 6. I’m the Literacy Lead and also the Subject Lead for Geography, History and Modern Foreign Languages (Spanish). I’m very lucky to lead these subjects as I love reading, travelling and visiting historic sites in the UK and abroad! I became Staff Governor in 2021 and Assistant Head in 2023 and I have enjoyed learning the new skills that these roles require. Foxton is wonderful school and I enjoy getting involved in the exciting activities and events that we hold such as discos, Christmas carol services, fetes and trips. |
